San Mateo Corrections Division
The San Mateo Corrections Division operates two jail facilities, the Maguire Correctional Facility and the Maple Street Complex Facilities. The San Mateo Corrections Division also operates the Alternative Sentencing Bureau, which includes the Sheriff’s Work Program, Electronic Monitoring and Work Furlough Programs. Through these three operations, the San Mateo Corrections Division staff serves the Court, other law enforcement agencies, inmates, inmate’s families, and crime victims by working collaboratively within the judicial system and the community. San Mateo Corrections mission is to protect public safety, reduce inmate recidivism, and improve the quality of life of those we serve by operating safe and secure correctional facilities.
Investigations Division
The Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division provides thorough and effective investigative and specialized services to the public and San Mateo County criminal justice agencies to ensure safer communities and provide the foundation for investigation and successful prosecution of criminals while promoting countywide and area-wide collaborative partnerships. San Mateo Corrections Division help the victim and protects the family.
Major Crimes Unit
This unit is responsible for all investigations concerning homicides, officer-involved shootings/deaths, major assaults, robbery, kidnap, and other similar crimes against persons not handled by any other unit. The Unit is also responsible for investigation of domestic violence and juvenile cases. San Mateo Corrections Division takes pride in being part of the teams behind the sense.
The main functions of the Domestic Violence Firearms Compliance Unit are to conduct investigations of domestic violence cases and to ensure the safe and timely surrender of firearms for safekeeping as required by Family Court Orders or by civil agreement.
General Crimes/SHOP/Sex Crimes/Court Services
The General Crimes Unit is responsible for all investigations concerning burglary, theft, arson, fraud, auto theft, and other similar crimes against property not handled by any other unit.
The SHOP/Sex Crimes Unit handles all crimes involving pornography, prostitution, vice, rape, molestation, and child physical/sexual abuse and the registration of sex offenders.
The Court Services Unit is responsible for the filings of all cases with the District Attorney’s Office and the investigation of all felony fugitive extraditions, and it acts as a liaison with outside agencies.
The Juvenile Detectives Unit conducts investigations of most matters regarding juveniles, as well as missing persons, COS cases, and the Auto Desk. San Mateo Corrections Division support these unit by keeping the criminals off the streets.
